WSE vs WS Squad WSE?

I was reading up on the Eldar codex entries on the codex site(since I know nothing about the Eldar other than the fact that they throw glowy death balls and this guy with a sword), and I noticed that the Warp Spider squad can be upgraded with a Warp Spider Exarch.

Just curious, but what is the lore difference between the Commander Warp Spider Exarch that you select at the beginning and the squad exarch? Is there a difference?

Am I overthinking this?

No, no lore difference AFAIK. It's just like the kommando nob hero and the nob on the kommando squad. Or the Warlock hero and the warlock leader on the old guardian squads or wraithguard. I guess we just have to assume they're super old/elite exarches, even more so than normal ones so they get access to an uber armoury and can do lots of special things. *shrugs*

Relic just chose what they thought suited the role best. A squad Exarch is the same rank as WSE though we must assume he is the "first among equals". Same goes with Techmarine and Apothecary, they aren't quite leader material, you would expect Master of the Forge and some super Apo instead, but since they lead a strike force not an army no one cares.

I actually think the Warp Spider Exarch is just an Autarch with some Warp Spider's arsenal of equipment. Hench the silly name I tried to enforce upon it when the Autarch came around even, Warpi Spider Autarch dominance.

Ugh, bad memories.
