Do you start to see profile pictures with a simple letter on it on YouTube like me?
what is this? can someone explain please?

As these people have not yet chosen an avatar, their placeholder avatar will be the first letter of their username. Just something new that Youtube/Google did. Looks more interesting than the standard sillouette.
EDIT: ugh, a few seconds too late...damn Riku....always one step ahead
