You may have noticed we have some special ranks & text badges for admin, mod, and contributor status. (Btw if I have missed someone who should have a custom title, let me know.)

Should we have one for actual playing merits? Like an "expert" (elite?) title for skilled players, or tournament winners, or something like that.

As long as they are modest. Nothing that says "im better than you". But rather something like "The Warmaster, Lord General, Chamber militant, Sigilant, Herald of Twilight etc...

One gets these tittles/ranks after reaching some goal etc.

Yeah, like longest-serving-forum members should get a rank. I suppose there could be a expert rank. How to dictate who deserves that could be a bit contentious though. Could also have a rank for people who participate mainly in certain aspects of the forum, or who are the go to person for information about a certain race. I say why not?

my point is that everyone has a good idea of everyone else's skill level; i don't really care either way. maybe you could throw snow flakes down the sides of the screen where there's just grey? that'd be nice.

i think Tournament winners deserve a costum title

Yea, even though i dont play in tournaments presently as im trying to get to grips with the game, i think special ranks or merit badges goes to tournament winners (or something along those lines) ONLY!.

Its a simple but good idea so dont ruin it by handing them out to every swinging dick.

Maybe "champion" would be adequately 40K for tournament winners?

On a related note, what about displaying skill rating in the profile?

Not sure everyone that won should get "Champion" in the description. Would get rather pointless after a while, no? Maybe only the "Champion" from last event? Or specify what tournament they were Champion? Or just name the people as you see fit :p

Kinda this, Arena Junkies does something similar, it's a site dedicated to WoW arenas, and people who are gladiators(top 0.5% teams on the leaderboard) or Rank1 get 1 insignia per title with the relative season of when they earned it.

Keep it in the same fashion as football/soccer, if said team wins a tournament they would put a gold star on their shirt. Teams like England have 1 star, Brazil 5 stars an so on..... its a good accolade format.

I would like to see current TOP players of the elite mod receive some kind of symbol.

These posts about noobies trying to balance the game they have played for all of one week is almost as bad as youtubers posting comments about the game needs to be balanced. It would be nice if only those people could contribute to the balance ideas of the game. For example: Tex, Dark (though he fixates too much on SM! LOL) Torpid, Toil. Its not that new people cant have an opinion but if we see these tags they carry more weight instantly.

Haha. Well I think it's best if special ranks are rarer so they're more special. And much as I'd love a different forum for moar experienced peeps, I don't think it's gonna happen

A custom "Champion" rank of your choice, like Toil has is cool - if you're reigning champion you can have some acknowledgement :p

Maybe after the next doubles tournament a special badge for the winning pair? The most recent champions of 1v1 and 2v2 having special ranks is my shout.

Although crazyman should get "Vox-Caster" or something.

Throwing another vote in for Tournament winners getting a logo as part of the tournament prize.

I am sorry to reopen a thread that has been mostly dead for two months, but I do agree with this idea of custom badges as they can definitely differentiate the initiates from the Chapter Masters. I think that the custom badges for champions should be retained even after that tournament and that they have certain levels depending on how many tournaments have been won. There should also be some custom badges for those people who may not be fantastic players or tournament winners themselves, but for those who are helpful in general or in certain areas. Yes, I am implying that a noob could be given a custom badge, but I can't really see tat happening. Whilst I say this, the number of these badge holders should be kept to a minimum or it will lose emphasis.

well here is my take on the matter.

there appears to be a little bit of unused space in between the number of posts a user has, and their title/level. i say that in that space there be colored "pips" like the collar pin things on military stuff, if you know what i mean. and these "pips" can be obtained by just about anyone.
so for example have like a Bronze Square pip to signify you took part in the beginners tournament, silver one if you were in the top 3 and a gold one if you won it etc etc.
a circle one for MRT and so on. maybe make it big enough to fit a number inside to signify how many times you've taken part in/won certain tournaments

this might encourage people to take part in the tournaments or other similar evens etc, newer members seeing these pips on so many other people might lead them to believe that tournaments arent as intimidating as they think they might be.

Might work, but no so many people on the forums care about that stuff. Some do of course, but lots of people won't be that bothered.

lets add something for 1v1 tourney winners. That way their input into balance and other info is readily available to see by all. Considering they would have the knowledge to speak about topics with much more weight than someone with 1 post.
