Ranked 1v1 Weekend : November 22-24
Posted: Sat 16 Nov, 2013 3:02 pm
by Indrid
What?Indrid will host 1v1 matches and record the results for use in the
1v1 Ratings. Everyone is welcome to play.
When?The evenings of November 22-24 (Fri-Sun). Evenings means 17:00 (5pm) until late
UK time. How?Those interested should leave their names here. Otherwise just nudge Indrid and/or hop into the Elite Mod group chat when you want to play. Play as little or as much as you like over the days. I will matchmake games as much as possible based on current ratings. If you are not yet rated by the system, now's the time to start!
ArbitrationIndrid will host the games to record results. If there is a lot of interest and people don't want to wait for that nub to referee, you
must save the replay(s) and send them to Indrid or Lulgrim otherwise your game will not be recorded in the ratings.
Match Setup500 VPs. Random Starting Location. Both players can choose from any Elite Mod commander (or opt for Random). Inform the referee of your commander choices and also your two map "Deselect" choices before each game. These choices are final. The map is then randomly selected using
this tool. Map results that any player deselected are re-rolled.

I was luled yesterday, but the games hosted by Indrid and Milty last night are now reflected on the (also otherwise re-calculated) ratings list. Encourage the unknown players to sign up here.
Detailed log from the processing is available below, still considering optimal parameters (RD decay seems to be about +1 per idle day in the RD 100 region).

Don't forget that you can match make your own games and post results (with replays) in the correct order.

I was looking over the final rating just to see who was at the top and surprising no-one, Pega/Noisy was at the top. What did surprise me to no end was who was the second highest: crazyman64335: 2012 + 237???
I would understand if the list was a bit shorter but he was ahead of Torpid, Toil and Tex, some of the biggest names in elite mod.
I mean no disrespect towards crazyman and if this is correct he has earned some major respect for getting such good results. Like your casts as well.

I don't think the data from November 24 has been processed yet, but yes Crazyman did very well. Also worth noting is that he played Random in I think every game, certainly every game that I saw.

Look again
His RD is still pretty high and higher than the people surrounding him. Together with his game count being rather low. It's the early stages so it can still easily change or stay the same

On top of that is Crazyman a pretty good player.

If you look at the
95% confidence interval, it's still pretty wild (we can be pretty sure his "true strength" is somewhere between 1710 – 2510). We "should" hide ratings with very high RD and label them as placement/inactive (chess typically publishes <80 only, we could use maybe <200 or <150) but for now the list is so small I don't know if there's purpose in that yet, and we can just educate people about reading the numbers instead.
