				Hello.
Today I've downloaded the mod for the first time and installed it just like it was being told to me on the side. After I had gotten my desktop shortcut, I tried to just the game through it, but nothing happened.
Can anyone help me with this?

One of the fastest way to get a reponse is to make sure to join the elitemod steam group. Join the chat channel and ask this and any other questions.
First download the proper files.
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=166Make sure its 2.2 beta 9 with the hotfix
You stated you used the desktop icon to launch it.
Check again.
Finally I have heard of other people having the same issue of doing everything right and (without their knowing) the file was actually corrupt. You might want to check that.
hope this helps!

				lots of possibilities.
did you install everything in the right order (i don't remember if beta 9 is a full install or not)?
is steam on the same drive as the game (this can cause issues)?

I'm not quite sure if I have the latest version since I didn't download it from there but from
http://www.dawnofwar.info/ . Do I have to replace my old files or completely delete them and install the Beta 9 and Beta 9 hotfix afterwards?
Yeah, the first thing I did was joining the chat yesterday. After somebody tried to help me but didn't know an answer, I was adviced to post a thread here.
Edit: It didn't seem to work, either. Either I did the installation wrong or there is some other problem.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=166Did you downloaded them from here?
Best thing would be I guess to verify the integrety of the game cache
(right click on your game in your library --> properties)Just to make sure.
Then try re-installing beta 9 full installer ( first ) and the hotfix again, if you havent tried already.
Maybe check if your desktop shortcut actually goes to your DoWII game, maybe that got messed up somehow.
Thats all the ideas I got.

I've tried the things you were suggesting, but most didn't help, unfortunately.
Although one thing was odd. When I was trying to find out where the shortcut leads to, it was to steam on C:,even though I installed dow2: retribution and elite mod on D:.

It really seems that ELITE doesnt like to get installed anywhere else than on C:
Youre not the first one with that problem ( or atleast a similar one ). The only solution I know of is reinstalling on C:
but ofcourse I dont know if thats an option for you

I have no understanding about the inner workings of either steam, DoWII or ELITE; the only tip I can give you at this point is writing a personal message to Lulgrim, the guy who does most of the technical stuff for ELITE.

Well, I guess I could try to reinstall Dow2:retri and elite on C:,since about 5gb aren't that much. I just like to have all my games on D: since D: has about 1TB and my C: only 130.

But it's odd, indeed. I would be surprised if it would work then! I'm probably gonna send him a message about this soon. Thanks for your help.

what i've done is just installed steam on D:/; it doesn't need the speed of a SSD to work.

The installer script looks for the Steam installation directory, so I can see it failing where Steam and DoW are installed on different drives.
It does give you the choice of reviewing and changing the Elite install path, so if you understand what files and directories are, you should be fine at that point.
