Hello, I have Dawn of war 1 and the expansions and after looking through the community of this mod I was convinced that I would like to join, I will be getting retribution on Friday and will download ELITE, I have a question though, how should I try to become part of the community?

I would like to participate in the beginners tournament and would just like to know how experienced I should try to become before I try to participate because I am kinda worried that I will be dominated by others who are much better than me.

My steam ID is Drone and I have the same icon that I do on here, once I get the game I would like to play a match with someone and learn, I will be up for a game whenever I'm online and I live in the timezone of west Europe.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome :)

You can be any level of beginner to be in the tournament, it is a beginner's tournament after all. The whole idea is to gain experience and have fun.

As for games, I'm pretty sure there's a steam group for the DoW2 beginners, although I'm not sure what it is. Someone else could probably tell you. You can also join the regular Elite mod group and ask around the chat for some beginner games. There have been a lot recently, which is awesome to see.

You can also start your own lobby and title it "1v1 beginner" or something.

Aside from that, watch casts from Indrid, Maestro Cretella, Codex, and others to learn to some extent what the units are capable of. (youtube: indrid casts, maestro casts, okihelena, crazyman64335, red-rupee, monthly rumble tournament.)

Again, welcome, and have fun :)

Hey Drone;
seeing new people joining our little community is allways awesome :)

If you haven't allready, joining the steam ELITE group and steam chat is propably the best way to get in contact with other players and to organise games.

Most people ( in my experience ) seem to be from around European time zones too, so you shouldnt have too many problems hopefully.

I dont think you can be too noob for the beginners tournement; there are more experienced noobs out there, but everytime a punch of really new players seem to pop up too.
