Faction Unique HUDs?

Idea just came to me that i thought would be pretty cool, is it possible to change the Heads up Display (HUD) for each race to be unique to that specific race? For example the Space Marine HUD would be brighter and have different colors / a different look than the other HUDs? Just something that would make playing each race more unique instead of looking at the same Gray / silver color all the time. :roll:

I bet Kilgarn would be able draw some new stuff if necessary. If we ask him nicely that is.

exactly what helios said, if you've never seen a hud from starcraft something along those lines in dow would be rather nice to look at, as opposed to the standard bleh we have now

He seems rather occupied for the moment tho, but it could be a good idea nontheless for the future.

remaking the UI would be a huge amount of work. nice idea but low priority.

And who cares actually? I'd rather have the default UI instead of some "flashy", bright UI, with bling bling all over the place. :P

Would love to see this actually. Nothing too extreme but a bit more unique feel for each race. Crumpet should know more how to implement this.

Actually DOW1 had this as standard. Was pretty neat, but they got lazy for Dow2.

Here are some links with the Chaos , Ork and Necron Ui. They all added a nice little feeling to the faction..... if you play Chaos, your UI should have skinned faces in it!

Other good functions that got lost for Dow2 were the UI's "Damage readouts" which told you how much damage a unit did, and the "heavy weapon upgrades" system that let you upgrade a squad with weapons however you wished.

You could for example, give your space marine squad any combination of heavy bolters, missile launchers, flamers or plasma guns.

Having various heavy weapons in one squad wouldn't really work in DOW2 as it just goes against the ethos of invest wisely but swiftly and pay if you choose wrong - which is all reinforced by squad levels, the upkeep system, the specialisation of individual units(and the smaller army sizes) etc.

The damage readouts were helpful though.

Yeah but it would help a lot if you could simply make Tactical squads able to upgrade to 1 special and 1 heavy weapon like in Codex.

No it wouldn't. Codex is broken, the point of tacs is they are flexible but no so much that they are a jack of all trades at the same time. Imagine tacs burning gens at the same time as being able to bring down a Chimera.

I agree that this might be a low priority objective but probably a really good one and while your playing you could be like "Hey this guy is beating me pretty hard what could I think of to counter his movement?" and just looking at the hud could possibly cause a slight spark of insperation hope and or possable fighting spirit to even turn a game around small details like this can end up doing alot.
