I'm just curious about what do you like about the Lore of Warhammer 40k.
More specifically:
1) Your favourite Chaos God
2) Your favourite Space Marine chapter
3) Your favourite Chaos Space Marine chapter
4) Your favourite Imperial Guard army
Feel free to add why it is.

1) I'm an Imperial puppy, so heretical to have one. ^^
I prefer Khorne from the tabletop point of view since I'm a close combat guy.
Fluffwise I'd prolly go for Slaanesh, cuz ya know

2) Blood Angels, because Sanguinius was just the best Primarch imo.
Them going crazy thinking they are Sanguinius when the black rages takes them over sounds awesome too. They are such a noble Chapter. Also because I play them on the tabletop. They have awesome apothecaries ^^
Crimson Fist are kinda tied with Blood Angels. Their story is just inspiring.
Pedro shows a lot of hearth, determination and resilience.
(The first named Chapter Master I picked up after playing vanilla SM back in 5th.)
3) Don't really have one :/ sorry. They all look and sound the same to me :p
Tabletop it's not even noticeable. They don't have different chapter tactics or benefits like the SM's do on the tabletop except 1 supplement. They distinguish themselves through Chaos God Marks usually.
4) That has to be Vostroyan Firstborn.
They look awesome and consist of all the firstborn of the world Vostroya.
Followed closely by Krieg.
They are some though and fearless motherfuckers to just be humans.
(I absolutely hate their audio in DoW2 though

)

1) Your favourite Chaos God
Tzeetch is my favourite Chaos God. Just how awesome is it to have and master Warp Magic with no restriction at all and be able to make many stuff happen or appear at your whim. Furthermore, what Tzeetch represents (Manipulation, Deception) takes skill and patience; traits which I greatly respect
2) Your favourite Space Marine chapter
Torn between Imperial Fist and Iron Hands
Imperial Fist
Love me some Professional, Emotionless and Siege Defence Experts. To me, this is how a true Space Marines behave in the Grimdark; Very Stoic, Calm and Rational who gets the job done and humbly says that it's the will of the Emperor rather than going apeshit in their devotion. Also, I like their colour scheme.
Iron Hands
They have close relations with Adeptus Mechanicus, their Battlecry (The Flesh is Weak) sounds boss and they have Cybernatic Implants. As much I love how Blood Ravens value Knowledge, this guy value Technology and show it through their cybernatic modifications and they look badass.
3) Your favourite Chaos Space Marine chapter
Thousand Sons
Their Legion Name is badass and their Rubic Marines or just simply to have Souless Soldiers fighting for them is Boss. They make the most use of Warp Magic and I like magic. They worship my favourite Chaos God. Their Egyptian-esque armour looks boss. I like blue. And I really liked their story of how their Homeworld was lost and they were forced to join Chaos due to misunderstandings and despite being mainly innocent pre-heresy
4) Your favourite Imperial Guard army
Tanith First and Only
1 Regiment -> Multiple Dead Chaos Heretics. Retinue of a Living Saint. Commander is favoured by a Warmaster, Lost their Homeworld but are still able to kick Chaos ass time and time again, see previous point.
And as a little extra, my favourite Path would be the Path of Shaping cause Hot Damn being able to create/manipulate stuff through the power of thought sounds amazing. And I like making stuff and psychic stuff.

1) Would have to be Tzeentch, closely followed by Khorne. Why Tzeentch? He's blue, and blue looks pretty.
2) I think it has to Astral Claws since they turned against the Imperium during the Badab War (which is a really good two books from Forge World). Their colour scheme is beautiful, the way Huron builds their chapter to 3,500 members, and just the beast that Huron is himself (now 6th ed is out, Huron is one of the most OP Space Marines out there, if you find the FW faq, you would see.
3) Word Bearers, because Lorgar's sons are the most interesting being crazy zealots who spend more time crucifying than fighting. Their colours look nice, all of the parchment and inscription is so juicily heretical, and Lorgar is the best Primarch (chants all day long, makes Angron an avatar of the Blood God, pulls gunships from the sky, crushes a Warhound with a rock, survives consecutive blasts from a plasma blastgun.
4) For IG it is either Steel legion of Elysians, with Cadian Kasrkin at the top too.

Good question. Tbh I'm not too much into Chaos, although I like two pieces of their lore, both aren't too (or at all) "canon": setting of FFG's Black Crusade, Screaming Vortex IIRC, and some fanmade warband who are basically Hell's Angels in Space. Those don't seem to favour anyone of the four. Although I feel that Nurgle is the one I'd bring up here. Although all of the four are somewhat controversial characters (something I like, especially when it comes to WH), Nurgle takes the cake IMO.
ChrisNihilus wrote:2) Your favourite Space Marine chapter
Probably Raptors. Reasonable Marines made canon - what's not to like?

Maybe one day I'll get a TT army of them. But sad will be the day when I'll realize that I have time for something like this.
Although I'll definitely feel like a hipster I am while fielding chapter master without invulnerability save

Salamanders are close second.
Edit: and I've missed out Exorcists. What a shame

ChrisNihilus wrote:3) Your favourite Chaos Space Marine chapter
Well, same as #1, I'm not big on Chaos guys.
Although I've mentioned some non-canon warband in this post. I'll post a link if I find it. It was the first time I was reading something on Chaos SM and thought, "Yes, Chaos is cruel, unforgiving and isn't for wusses. But it's awesome".
Don't tell to commisar what I told you just now, ok?
ChrisNihilus wrote:4) Your favourite Imperial Guard army
That's a tough call. IG are pretty awesome in general. It was a nice gateway for me into WH40k lore as they are someone normalfag can relate to in this universe, and then go further from there.
Although it's easier for me to name a favorite IG-related character, which would easily be Ciaphas Cain.

1) A tough one... Khorne me thinks. Followed by Nurgay and Slaanesh. Loving the Corn themed units like Buttcrushers etc. Carnage and angry butt sex for all!
2) Gotta go with Emprah's Children because Fulgrim was pretty badass and those guys had some serious bling. Also I liked Saul Tarvitz. Or maybe Luna Luls/Sons of Borus since Horus himself was pretty epic and they had... Or well have Easy-Kyle Failbaddon and had cool people like Torgaddon and Loken. I know. Both of the chapters/legions have turned their backs to da Emprah.
3) Hmmm. Maybe Emperor's Children. Can't really say. Or maybe World Lulers. Just berserking all day everyday.
4) Not much knowledge from these boys. Prolly gonna go with Meth Cook Corps of Krieg.

Mmm, yes, the Emperors Children and Sons of Horus are sexy, but not a fan of Black Legion. I would really like that Fulgrim model but he is a tad expensive.

Feel free to add why it is.

1) Slaanesh - because they're devoted to pleasure and perfection and I think are one of the more interesting chaos factions because of this. Plus, I love noise marines - one of my top favorite chaos units in general.
2) Probably Dark Angels, maybe Space Wolves. I'm very picky about Space Marines and I actually hate a lot of the chapters in the SM lore.
3) Emperor's Children. Similar to above, plus they're pink which is essentially the pimp-est of colors for power armor.
4) Hard decision. Probably a Catachan army or Cadians (so vanilla, much mainstream). I just like the army as they represent some of the highest pinnacles of what is essentially, the ordinary soldier in the Imperium. They fight against the odds, to the last man and they do a good job of it, in relative comparison to other guard armies/regiments. But I think there are quite a few colorful ones, and it's particularly why I like IG as well. Despite having a defacto guard hierarchy, various armies can differ so much depending on what planet they hail from, and it's much more visible in their ensemble then it would be say space marine chapters (which, generally, vary usually in color and small trinkets from a visual standpoint).

1) Take a wild guess

Papa Nurgle. I really love the aesthetic his units have, and the perversion of life/death. Plus, he's a jolly chap, and his followers are sometimes portrayed in a similar way.
Just read this description. It fills me with DAWWWW.2) Ohhh. Erm. I'd say Astral Knights. Dead as doornails, but man did they fill their badassery quota on the way out. If I had to pick a living chapter, I'd go with Raven Guard. Because tactics and shiz.
3) I'm torn between Death Guard (for obvious reasons) and Iron Warriors. The aesthetic for both is awesome. I'm gonna have to go for DG, I guess.
4) Gah. Part of me wants to say the Valhallans, because of the Ciaphas Cain series, but that's only because the books did a great job of characterising individuals in one or two regiments... but really, in terms of overall badassery, it's gotta be either Kriegers or Cadians. The latter are often called vanilla... but hey, Cadia has weathered chaos for millennia, and only have to look up to see the literal hole in reality. Their society is utterly messed up, too, though not as much as that of Krieg. So yeah, I'll go with Cadians.

I really dont know why they bothered to bring him back.

Maybe it's related to the different voice actor, but I really can't get my head to consider the Eliphas from dark crusade and the Eliphas from CR and Retri to be the same.
Eliphas in DC was an absolute boss, with some of the best lines and banter in the game. And going back to his voice, it felt more... fitting. Deep and derisive. This is my favourite example:

I hardly think any heretics were offended, just saddened that you could not join the slaughter.
