[Q] DoW shooting effects for videoediting(Last Post Edited)

Greetengs, fellas!
Im asking you for a little help- how to extract subj (like tyranids bio-shots or eldar energy-shots) and convert it into footage for AE or something else? My aim is to make tabletop WH reports looks more live and outstanding with "real-like" shoots and explosions. There are now problems with common shots, but such specific is really hard to google. So hope for your help ^_^

fairly difficult actually. i assume the vfx editor can display vfx so you could cut it from there with a transparent green/pink/cyan background and use it from there. it might not look right though, because i'm not sure if you can move the effects. if that is the case you'd have to get a uni-colour map and record the units shooting each other with fraps and rip it from there.
let me know if i wasn't clear.

thanks, ive understand your way to rec it but it looks like hammer nails with microscope =(
But after some attemps to get to bfx attributes in sga files and reaching nothing... i think its the only way to make it. Or write letter to Relic and ask them for raw FX files =)

yeah, i doubt it's worth the effort unless you plan on doing a lot of battle reports.

The fx files are all there to take but can you do anything with them without the game engine?

So ive found fx editor by Santos to add this stuff to 3ds max:

dump it in the main ret folder. the fx editor won't work properly unless its folder is in a folder in the main folder. matryoshka dolls....

2 Nuclear Arbitor: but can you help with last one problem- how to extract tracers from it to 3ds max? I dont know what to do with *.bfx and google doesnt want to help me T_T

get that footage to use it in video editing program (video with alpha or img seq). that all what im trying to do T_T

apologies for not getting back sooner but i couldn't find the thread...
i didn't have any luck though. the fx editor wouldn't open any of them and santos' tools doesn't seem to have anyway to import vfx. i know santos has an account on this site and you could try PMing him; i'm out of ideas.
