Not so much balance as overall unit design. Something for a bigger update maybe.
Nerf venom brood. It makes most T2 vehicles unviable vs tyranid imo, and people would still use it if it did 20% less damage I think. In exchange, reduce the lictor's hp but dramatically increase its health regen. Tyranids have a tendency to fight blobbed up, so it would be a helpful tactical option to have a unit that has a lot of staying power in smaller engagements. It goes well in line with the lictor lore as well.
Guardsmen, stormtroopers and cadians are fairly similar. Without upgrades they're basically three tiers of the same unit, and upgrades don't separate them that much either. I would suggest giving storm troopers 50% resistance to all plasma and melta damage (in exchange for higher reinforcement cost). It would set them apart as a high risk-high reward type unit that deals well with most types of aoe, making imperial guard more difficult to hard counter. Tangentially it would also give gray knights some versatility against dark reapers and such. I would also increase the cost of cadians, and give them stun or smoke grenades (or both), to make it more of a utility unit. IG should be all about combined arms, not massing elite squads only, that's the opposite of how they fight in the lore.
A few thoughts
Re: A few thoughts
But guardsmen are not heavy infantry so they don't take extra damage from melta and plasma, and from melta I believe they take less, because they are not heavy infantry of vehicles.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Tangentially - Of, relating to, or moving along or in the direction of a tangent.

Dunno if you know how this works around here buddy, but posts/threads like this don't result in changes. Else I'd be making shit tons

What?
Tyranids have a tendency to fight blobbed up
Blame your micro
It goes well in line with the lictor lore as well
So Lore > Game Balance?
Guardsmen, stormtroopers and cadians are fairly similar.
You mean Kasrkins? Not Cadians?
Without upgrades they're basically three tiers of the same unit, and upgrades don't separate them that much either
Not really, Guardsmen, Stormtroopers and Kasrkin are all unique. They each serve a different purpose.
50% resistance to all plasma and melta damage
For what purpose? Stormtroopers are fragile yet painful when not controlled Furthermore, if you have no idea how to use Stormtroopers, their just there to bleed 40 Req off of you.
Tangentially it would also give gray knights some versatility against dark reapers and such
Which Stormtroopers are we talking about here? IG or GK
opposite of how they fight in the lore
Again, Lore > Balance ?
I would also increase the cost of cadians, and give them stun or smoke grenades (or both), to make it more of a utility unit
Kasrkins do crazy amounts of range damage. Allowing them to disrupt melee squads with stun nades or reduce incoming range damage (Which can be stacked with CL or LG etc) with smoke nades seems a bit too much

Re: A few thoughts
This thread confused me heavily; you lost me when mentioning the lictor
Re: A few thoughts
Vbroods are one of the worse av squads
Kasrkin STs and guardsmen are 3 DIFFERENT units...
oh and please never back up your argument with some lore bullshit
I know this is a kinda meaniey post, but someone would do it instead of me later or sooner

Re: A few thoughts
Vbroods are way better than tankbustas at AV and they also provide that ranged synapse that is ever so valuable. Don't see why venoms are any worse than other dedicated AV units considering their cost and the nid comp.
Lets make Ordo Malleus great again!
Re: A few thoughts
actually, i think it'd be a buff to VB if they lost the basic synapse. Just too damn easy to lose VB models and cause syanpse bombs from tank shots
I know VB can fire on the move and that makes a giant difference vs tank bustas, but the syanpse thingy IMO balances it out

Re: A few thoughts
I have no idea why you think them providing synapse is a bad thing. That's ridiculous.

Re: A few thoughts
But he told you why he thinks that :p The synapse bombs.
Tankbustas are way better than VB's imo. Their barrage can be used in so many ways.
And the AV they give is amazing, Especially in combo with a trukk or weirdboy.
And yeah, original post is not making any sense ^^

Re: A few thoughts
I still take the cake with the very first post I made. That was terrible I will admit.
Anyway, he might be saying transports vs nid (other than land raiders) are way to easy to lose? I dont see that as a problem. A well managed transport can change how a map looks in terms of control, and can still be difficult to take down.
A single guardsmen squad can take quite a few of hits before going down and they reinforce three at a time which can make it alot harder to deal with them when they have some sort of reinforcement point. Although any aoe ripes them apart as it should IMO.
Storm troopers can infiltrate. Imma stop there since there is plenty of way you can abuse that ability.
Kasrkin...already covered.
So you want GK to have counters vs ranged units? News to me that they have a hard time doing that with Interceptors, GL IST, BC, Termies, the area denial Purifiers have and the awesome LRC.
Lets not bring lore into it. That comes last as always and should never determine a change in a game let alone how fragile this one is.
