Would it be possible to mod the game to introduce colorblind settings? Switching the minimap colors to show player controlled units as a darker blue and teammate units as purple would improve the quality of the minimap for some people.

was just talking about this in the chatroom. i think its a nice idea.
it could either be a separate mod to go alongside ELITE, or maybe a tickbox in the ELITE installer.
i dont think i'd be hard to implement considering we already have dark blue/purple/green teams in TFFA.

On some maps, particularly the winter-, grayscale-colored maps (e.g. Ice Station Obelis, Valhalla, ...), I have trouble discerning the outlines of the points. Maybe it's just me.

I would love this, while I am not color blind myself, I have always found colorblind modes to be easier on the eyes, and much easier to see things. I really hate that allied units are yellow though, it is very hard to see where allies are on the desert maps imo.
And on ice maps, I have sometimes had this issue, but generally the shapes of the points give it away for me. I have issues on dark maps because I hate having to pump my brightness way up just to see points.

What colors would be good for this? I don't really know much about making color blind things.
I can look into it to see if it's possible.

Generally darker colors work well.
League of Legends has a good example of this imo.
~Basic~
Friendly/Self: Green(I belief self is still green in regular mode, I have not played recently enough to know.)
Enemy: Light Red
~Colorblind Mode~
Self: Darker Yellow, almost gold.
Friendly: Blue
Enemy: Darker Red
In my opinion yourself should be a darker blue, and allies would be the suggested purple. Enemy is fine imo, but a darker red/maroon would not be a bad idea imo.

I would love a CB mode. I was playing Last Stand last night and Noticed I would sometimes lose my cursor and my allies and me had the same health bar so I kept clicking on them during stressed situations.
I'd seriously suggest rethinking the use or purple. I am red-yellow-green colourblind and purple just doesn't exist in my spectrum and it is very hard for red-green CB people to see the difference between some purple and blues.
Red Enemies/Blue allies is usually the most common colour choice for CB modes.
For Heroes I would suggest something like Bright Yellow or Silver.
As for what it should be, probably most useful to affect the whole game so maybe have it as a separate mod?
