Just felt like brainstorming a bit,
are there any units YOU'd love to see in DoWII / ELITE? Realisticly or not?
Any favourites back from the DoW days? And how would they work here?

A huge part of the Ork society just missing ( the new Ork "naraitor" is hilarious, admittedly )

build Mek turrets and WAAAGH!-banners
Gretchin do not level / gain experience
Gretchin can't WAAAGH!
weapons:Gretchin fight with a mixture of both Choppaz, Sluggaz and Shootas.
I'd imagine they'd shoot like Slugga- and fight like Shootaboyz, all in all.
purpose:Gretchins are strong in numbers and small targets making them great to absorb fire for your Ork boyz.
They are quicker than your regular Slugga- or Shootaboyz and thanks to their small size a bit more resistant to ranged fire, making them useful to harass the enemy by rushing into enemy territory decapping requisition- and victorypoints.
They are cheap repair crews later into the game to relieve Sluggas.
Synergy with the Painboy. Painboys are often followed by Orderlies -

Unstable Fuel Injection.
*The herder is not a Nob but a simple Ork boy.
The Herder dies last and allows the Gretchin Pack to
WAAAGH!and improves the Gretchins` repair speed to that of Guardsmen.

I would like to see Macharius , something between Leman Russ and Baneblade.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Machari ... pYboSdBBRs650-700 req 160-170 power.
IG lacks of tanks so this could be a nice addition.

I really like the gretchin idea. Would make vehicle play as orks more viable in other ways than just vehicle rushing.
I would also like to see waagh banner mostly costing red to build so that we would actually see them used more. Possibly could convert some of the cost of ork turret to red aswell since they don't supress anymore and spamming them isn't redundant apart from their cost. Would make orks feel more "orky" if they had banners and gretchins around.

wonderful idea. Like rippers that can repair. Right now the repair of vehicles is a huge hassle for tanks and Battlewagons. I would totally pay 150 req to have a dedicated repair team.

Ya I'd say the worst part about playing orkz at the moment is having to take your sluggas out of the battlefield anytime you want to repair. This sounds cool

I was debating starting a new thread but I'll just commandeer this one for my purpose.
So my idea was to corral all these new unit ideas people keep throwing around like shurikens and the idea was this: what Caeltos/Lulgrim/a person in power/a high-level player could do is present a balance problem. What the rest does is Brain-Storm on ideas that could give inspiration or a new perspective on a problem. This could get the brain power of this forum to stop constantly bitching about every single balance change and be a bit more proactive.
Do realize that only a small percentage of the ideas will see the light of day(seeing as Caeltos seems to have a pretty good schedule on things that are coming in the future)
and most of this is just throwing shit onto a wall and seeing if it sticks

Propably the more sensible way to approach the game^^

I like the idea of them in the game and their stats seem solid too. Too bad we can't give them the voices they had in the first DOW.

Could make the pain boy into a squad like the lord general, and give him some gretchins on the side for assistance

.

i don't think the pain boy is the one to do it with, fluff wise, but i've always liked the idea of more squads like that. for a while i've wanted the seer council to be folded into the farseer as a separate t3 upgrade, at current cost. it would be more fluffly and interesting. i'm afraid it would make a giant unkillable deathstar though.

I want a command squad as a support unit for IG. Have small buffs (flag bearer = inspiration buff, perhaps a small healing buff for a medic, or a vox operator giving an order as well. Would love to see squads of guardsmen fighting hard for the glory of Cadia when they catch sight of the flag.

I'd love to see a return on some of the ork units lost from DOW 1.
The Bassilik replacing the Manticore would be amazing as I hate the Manticore
Defiler would be amazing but its not going to happen as the time needed to design a model and animate it would be crazy, Although you could just re-skin the tyrant guard
Obliterators, nuff said!
Also space marines should get a new commander: Codename: Stheel rehn.

Grots would be great! Always missed them in Dow 2.
Personally I'd like to see 4th heroes starting to appear, would really shake things up, specifically Indrids Slaanesh Champion idea, or a Solitaire and Harlequin troupe (like the Lord General and his retinue) so the rest of Caids eldar models can be put to use somehow.
Cheers

Haha that would be awesome, always has a soft spot for the old school tyranid stuff.
Where are you getting all these images from by the way?
I've trawled through most of the relic forums threads looking for models etc but have never seen some of these. Got a link? Or have you shopped them up yourself?

I was thinking about Elysian Drop troops (or Harakoni Warhawks if Tier 2/3)
They function similar to Guardsmans, cost a little more, but can reinforce anywhere on the map (the new model drop via Grav-Chute).
This will add some staying power in the Tier 1 of the IG, that now need Tier 2 before they can point their feet on a location, and they can help in behind enemy lines actions where now lonely IG squads are too much Hit&Retreat if not in a blob.
At a cost.
I play Chaos and i'm a total noob, but that's my idea to make the IG more invasive, less dipendent from Chimeras, less blobby, but without losing they "Squitchyness".
This could even be an upgrade for Guardsman instead of a whole new unit.

I thnik it would be nice to see different chaos demons. Unfortunately I don't see that as very likely since we don't have anyone who'd be able to make new animations for them. Not to mention the balance and implemention.

It'd be great if squads could have randomized models. I mean for example always picking a model from 2-3 types. In Eldar army women are as frequent as men. And for SM you could have greater variety in all the bling on their armor and stuff.
For Chaos I can only imagine female cultists or Daemonettes.
But a few or more women in Guards(wo)men squad would be nice.

Yeah, wonder how much work it would be to merge the guardian model with the one of the autarch / banshee.
Ive seen male models for the sweeping falcon autarch, so I have to asume both body types come very close.

If you can model and have the time I think you could make pretty good Plaguebearers, Deamonettes and Horrors based off the Bloodletter legs, torso, skeleton and anims. Wouldn't be wholly fluffy but all the lesser daemons are bipeds with anthropomorphic features. If you did it like this it would be easy to get them ingame for those that want them.
I could set them up as model swaps for example.

I think I'll get my hands on the Daemonettes eventually. But for now my hands are tied since I don't have a machine to work on.
Also I wonder how long it takes to a professional to make a complete model like this. Somehow I can't believe it's about two months, which is how long it takes me to do one. Then again, I just started with 3D this summer.

Yeah, except that you're a super hero who's busy fighting saving the world. I bet those professionals don't have anywhere close to the same commitments and distractions you do

because spess hobbits in spess, sniping away.
